Welcome to the Children's Learning Center

Shawnee State University's Children's Learning Center (CLC) is a full day university/community preschool licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services that opened its doors in 1999 and quickly established itself as a leader in early childhood education with the distinction of being the first nationally accredited program in Scioto County by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in 2004.

With highly qualified staff of degreed teachers and university student teaching assistants enrolled full-time in degree-track programs, the Center provides diverse and fully integrated environments to develop young children's minds and transform self-directed, lifelong early learners into lifelong learners. Play is the work of young children, and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) early learning content standards are implemented through a Developmentally Appropriate (DAP) curriculum that provides opportunities for discovery, exploration, and experimentation.
