Elisabeth Mapes

My name is Elisabeth Mapes and I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. As a relatively new resident of Portsmouth, I am very excited to become part of the Children’s Learning Center community! I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama and then moved back to Ohio where I received an Early Childhood Educator license as well. I have spent the past two years teaching at the elementary level and believe that my calling is to be with toddlers and preschool aged students, making the CLC a great fit.

My philosophy of education is that children learn best through their own discovery and investigation. As a teacher I am here to guide students to become curious, confident learners through our center activities and guided group activities. New topics and materials will be introduced frequently to allow your child to expand on their understanding of the world around them. Each day I hope to make your child excited about coming to school through this hands on experience!
